Code of Conduct
Conference code of conduct and behavioral guidelines
IPAC’27, sponsored by the IEEE Nuclear and Plasma Sciences Society (NPSS) and the American Physical Society (APS) Division of Physics of Beams, is committed to advancing accelerator science and technology through a vibrant, inclusive, and global community. We strive to foster a professional environment grounded in mutual respect, integrity, inclusion, accessibility, and belonging.
As a conference hosted at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams (FRIB) at Michigan State University, IPAC’27 upholds the professional and ethical standards of its sponsors and host institution.
Scope
This Code of Conduct applies to all individuals participating in IPAC’27, including attendees, speakers, authors, organizers, volunteers, exhibitors, sponsors, contractors, and staff. It applies to all conference-related activities, including in-person events, social functions, satellite meetings, online platforms, and social media interactions associated with IPAC’27.
By registering for or participating in IPAC’27, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and to cooperate with its enforcement.
Participant Responsibilities
All participants are expected to uphold the following principles:
Community: Create and sustain an open, professional, and welcoming environment for learning, conducting, and communicating science. Respect and value diversity of perspectives, backgrounds, identities, and experiences.
Integrity: Act with honesty, fairness, and accountability. Take responsibility for the integrity and trustworthiness of your research, presentations, and professional interactions.
Conduct: Behave professionally and respectfully in all interactions. Be mindful that language or behavior not intended to be offensive may still be perceived as such. Engage in active listening and constructive dialogue.
Conflicts of Interest: Disclose any personal, professional, financial, or other conflicts of interest that could reasonably be perceived as influencing your work, presentations, publications, or professional judgments.
Social Media: Engage responsibly and respectfully in online discussions, following best practices for scientific meetings, including accuracy of information and respect for others’ contributions.
Reporting: Report observed or experienced misconduct and, where appropriate, intervene or seek assistance to help maintain a safe and respectful conference environment.
Prohibited Conduct
The following conduct is prohibited at IPAC’27:
- Scientific misconduct: including plagiarism, fabrication, or falsification of data
- Harassment and discrimination: including unwelcome conduct based on gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, or other protected characteristics
- Disruptive behavior: that interferes with presentations, meetings, or conference activities
- Retaliation: Intimidating, threatening, or coercing those who report violations
- Undisclosed conflicts of interest
Reporting
Report violations immediately through any of the following channels:
- On-site: Conference staff or security
- IEEE: eventconduct@ieee.org
- APS Ethics report site aps.ethicspoint.com or Toll-free number (844) 660-3924.
All reports will be handled confidentially and investigated promptly.
